Position Details

Requirements

• Minimum LLB or relevant degree from an HEC-recognized local or foreign university or institute
• Minimum 3 years of experience
• Knowledge of banking laws
• Experience in litigation matters
• Knowledge of judicial and quasi-judicial proceedings
• Legal drafting and document vetting skills
• Experience with legal case management
• Maximum age limit 50 years as of the date of application

Responsibilities

• Protect the rights and interests of the Bank by effectively handling and managing its litigation portfolio
• Vet plaints, suits, petitions for leave to appear, replications, writ petitions, appeals and representations
• Vet legal documents submitted before competent Courts and judicial or quasi-judicial forums
• Handle and manage Bank matters before judicial and quasi-judicial forums
• Provide legal support in settlement and compromise agreements within the legal framework
• Provide legal support to SAM, Operations and other relevant departments in contentious matters
• Liaise with external counsel to ensure attendance before Courts
• Ensure proper defence of the Bank's interests in litigation matters
• Coordinate with Business Units and Relationship Managers for timely provision of information, documents and instructions to external counsel
• Attend important proceedings before Courts and other judicial or quasi-judicial forums
• Assist the MIS team in improving the litigation portfolio MIS
• Provide assistance to the Chief Legal Officer, Head Litigation and Management on day-to-day affairs
• Attend Court proceedings before subordinate and superior Courts
• Attend proceedings before other judicial and quasi-judicial forums
• Prepare case briefs for litigation matters
