Position Details

Requirements

• Minimum LLB or relevant degree from an HEC-recognized local or foreign university or institute
• Minimum 9 years of experience
• Experience in litigation
• Knowledge of banking laws
• Knowledge of criminal laws
• Knowledge of corporate laws
• Knowledge of recovery laws
• Experience in managing litigation portfolios
• Experience supervising legal teams
• Maximum age limit 55 years as of the date of application

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the rights and interests of the Bank through effective handling of litigation portfolios
• Manage litigation matters relating to SME, RFD, ACD, P&OEG and other Business Units
• Manage and supervise vetting of plaints, petitions, CPLA, CP, CA, replications, appeals and representations
• Review legal documents before filing before Courts of competent jurisdiction
• Handle matters before judicial and quasi-judicial forums
• Manage and supervise settlement and compromise agreements entered into by the Bank
• Provide legal advice on amicable settlements when required
• Ensure settlement matters remain within the applicable legal framework
• Supervise and attend important Court proceedings
• Ensure timely issuance of Power of Attorney to external legal counsels
• Manage and liaise with external counsels to ensure proper Court attendance
• Ensure effective defence of the Bank's interests in litigation matters
• Coordinate with Business Units and Relationship Managers for timely provision of information and documents
• Provide clear instructions to external legal counsels for litigation matters
• Manage and supervise the litigation team as Unit Head
• Coordinate with the MIS Team to maintain updated litigation records
• Assist in maintaining records of litigation and contentious matters
• Recommend prominent lawyers for empanelment from time to time
• Assist the Chief Legal Officer, Divisional Head Litigation and Management in day-to-day affairs
• Undertake other assignments entrusted by line management
